Holistic women-only beauty and massage salon
The story of Wharekauhau is one of legacy, vision, and deep respect for the land. Originally spanning 3,200 acres, the farm has long been a working property, home to around 300 head of cattle and 6,000 Romney and Texel-cross sheep. The Shaws, who began farming here in the late 1970s, were inspired by the wonder their guests felt when visiting. They opened their home to travellers seeking an authentic New Zealand farm experience, eventually expanding to create the lodge and cottages that welcome guests today.
In 2010, Bill and Carol Foley, while exploring New Zealand’s vineyards, returned to Wharekauhau and made it their own. Their vision is rooted in sharing the rugged beauty and genuine farm life of this unique place. Guests are invited to unwind, explore, and make lasting memories, whether through farm-to-table dining, connecting with the local community, or simply soaking in the spectacular surroundings. The Foley family’s ongoing involvement ensures that Wharekauhau remains a place of authenticity, history, and heartfelt hospitality.

Our bespoke, high-quality luxury glass bottles are crafted for longevity, reuse, and a more sustainable skincare experience. We choose glass because it can be recycled indefinitely without losing purity or strength, reducing waste and supporting a circular economy.
